Saudi Crown Prince Funds SR50 Million Restoration of Historic Jeddah Buildings
The Saudi Ministry of Culture has completed a project to restore 56 dilapidated buildings in the Historic Jeddah District, funded by a SR50 million donation from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The restoration is part of the Crown Prince's efforts to preserve historical sites in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to showcase the Kingdom's Arab and Islamic heritage.
The Historic Jeddah District contains over 600 heritage buildings, 36 historical mosques, five main historical markets, ancient corridors, squares, and sites of historical significance, including the ancient waterfront, which was a key route for Hajj pilgrims.
The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia has initiated a project to restore and retell the history of the Hajj pilgrimage in Jeddah.
Five specialized Saudi companies have been tasked with the restoration of historic Jeddah buildings under the supervision of experienced technicians.
The project adheres to the unique design and urban structure of the Historic Jeddah District, preserving its distinctive architectural elements.
Some of these buildings contain archaeological landmarks dating back 500 years, belonging to Jeddah families.
