Saudi Arabia Fines Over 400 Foreign Trucks for Regulatory Violations
Transport General Authority enforces strict penalties to enhance compliance and oversight in the land transport sector.
The Transport General Authority of Saudi Arabia has imposed fines on more than 400 foreign trucks across various regions of the Kingdom between March 16 and 21, 2025, citing regulatory offenses.
This action is part of a broader initiative aimed at reinforcing adherence to transport regulations and laws.
The Saudi Press Agency confirmed on March 23 that the fines align with the authority's ongoing field campaigns aimed at promoting compliance.
The Transport General Authority adheres to a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding transport regulations.
First-time offenders face a fine of SR10,000 (approximately $2,666) and may have their trucks impounded for 15 days.
Subsequent violations lead to increased penalties: SR20,000 and a 30-day impoundment for the second offense, SR40,000 and a 60-day impoundment for the third, SR80,000 along with 60 days for the fourth, and SR160,000 for the fifth infraction.
Additionally, persistent violators risk confiscation of their vehicles.
These nationwide enforcement campaigns are designed to enhance oversight in the transport sector, ensure fair competition, and bolster local carriers.
The Transport General Authority has outlined four essential regulations for foreign truck operations: acquiring an electronic transport document through ‘bayan.logisti.sa’, restricting transport activities to return journeys, complying with local carrier regulations, and resolving any offenses prior to entering or exiting the Kingdom.
