Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Saudi Arabia for a brief but significant diplomatic visit aimed at discussing regional security developments and reinforcing strategic ties between the two countries.
The Pakistani leader landed in Jeddah on Thursday at the invitation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
Upon arrival at the Royal Terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport, he was received by senior Saudi officials including the Deputy Governor of Makkah, Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz.
During the visit, Sharif is scheduled to hold talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman focusing on the evolving security situation across the Middle East and broader bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
The discussions are expected to include exchanges on regional tensions and diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting stability and dialogue.
The trip comes at a time of heightened geopolitical uncertainty in the region, prompting increased diplomatic coordination among key partners.
Pakistan has emphasized its commitment to supporting diplomatic initiatives that encourage de-escalation and peaceful engagement among regional actors.
Saudi Arabia remains one of Pakistan’s most important strategic partners, with the relationship spanning decades of political, economic and security cooperation.
The two countries maintain strong defense ties and collaborate closely on issues affecting regional stability and energy security.
Beyond security discussions, both governments continue to deepen economic cooperation and investment partnerships, reflecting the long-standing alliance between Riyadh and Islamabad.
Saudi Arabia is a major source of energy supplies and financial support for Pakistan, while Pakistan has historically provided diplomatic and security cooperation to the kingdom.
Officials say the latest meeting between the two leaders highlights the continued importance of consultation between partners during a period of regional tension and underscores the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
