Saudi Cabinet Condemns Iranian Attacks and Reaffirms Kingdom’s Right to Defend Its Sovereignty
Government meeting chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman warns Tehran’s aggression threatens regional stability and confirms Saudi Arabia will take all necessary steps to protect the kingdom.
Saudi Arabia’s cabinet has strongly condemned a series of Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting the kingdom and other countries across the Gulf, reaffirming Riyadh’s right to defend its sovereignty and safeguard its citizens.
During a cabinet session chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, ministers denounced the strikes as unacceptable acts that threaten regional security and violate international norms.
The meeting emphasised that Saudi Arabia reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its territory, national security and the safety of people living in the kingdom.
The cabinet also praised the performance of Saudi air-defence systems, which successfully intercepted and destroyed several incoming missiles and drones aimed at sensitive sites and facilities inside the country.
Officials said the interceptions demonstrated the effectiveness of the kingdom’s defensive capabilities during a period of heightened regional tension.
Saudi leaders expressed solidarity with neighbouring Gulf states and other countries that have also been targeted in recent attacks.
The government described the incidents as part of a broader pattern of aggression that risks destabilising the wider Middle East.
The cabinet meeting took place against the backdrop of a rapidly escalating confrontation across the region involving Iran and several international actors.
Missile and drone strikes have been reported in multiple Gulf countries in recent weeks, raising concerns about the safety of energy infrastructure, civilian areas and key transport routes.
Saudi officials have consistently emphasised that the kingdom’s actions are focused on protecting its territory and maintaining regional stability.
The government has reiterated that any defensive measures taken by Riyadh are aimed at deterring further aggression and safeguarding both national and regional security.
The cabinet’s statement forms part of a series of diplomatic and security responses by Saudi Arabia as it navigates the expanding crisis.
While condemning the attacks, Saudi leaders have also called for responsibility and restraint to prevent the conflict from widening further.
At the same time, the kingdom has signalled that it remains fully prepared to defend itself if necessary, underscoring the importance of protecting the safety of citizens, residents and vital national infrastructure during a period of mounting geopolitical tension.
