Cultural Development Fund Hosts Third Annual Storytellers Event in Riyadh

Key cultural leaders gather to celebrate innovation and entrepreneurship in Saudi Arabia's cultural sector.
Riyadh recently hosted the third annual Storytellers event, organized by the Cultural Development Fund, bringing together officials, cultural leaders, entrepreneurs, and creators from diverse cultural fields.

This event aims to strengthen connections among stakeholders and explore new opportunities within the cultural sector.

The gathering featured a keynote address by Majed Al-Hugail, the fund’s CEO, and included remarks from representatives of the Elite Chefs Center, which operates the CHEFPreneur program, an initiative designed to equip aspiring chefs with essential culinary expertise and entrepreneurial skills necessary to launch their own competitive projects.

During the event, 42 graduates of the CHEFPreneur program were recognized for completing their training, highlighting the fund's commitment to supporting projects that foster cultural entrepreneurship.

In alignment with Saudi Arabia's Year of Handicrafts 2025, the event also showcased various cultural activities, including traditional crafts such as prayer bead-making and henna art.

A special art exhibition was dedicated to the works of visual artist and craftswoman Naifah Al-Shahrani, who drew inspiration from the traditional Al-Qatt Al-Asiri of southern Saudi Arabia, featuring vibrant colors and intricate designs that celebrate the region's rich heritage.

The Cultural Development Fund aims to build strategic partnerships with government entities, private sector organizations, and nonprofit groups to promote sustainable growth within the cultural sector, thereby contributing to economic development and improved quality of life.

Nawaf Al-Owain, the fund’s marketing and communication executive director, emphasized the significance of the annual gathering as a means to cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders and maintain the momentum of the cultural sector.

He described the event as a vital platform for creatives, entrepreneurs, and influencers to discuss ideas, share insights, and explore collaboration opportunities across cultural and financial domains.

The overarching goal is to encourage dialogue and partnerships that facilitate growth and sustainability within the cultural landscape.
