Abeer Al Akel Appointed CEO of Royal Commission for AlUla
Abeer Al Akel takes on leadership role following extensive experience in cultural and strategic programs.
The Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has appointed Abeer Al Akel as the Chief Executive Officer of the commission, a decision announced on Friday.
Following a tenure as acting CEO from late January 2022, Al Akel takes full leadership of the commission tasked with the development and promotion of AlUla, a site of significant cultural and historical importance in Saudi Arabia.
Since joining RCU in 2017, Al Akel has held several prominent roles within the organization, including Director of the Strategic Delivery Department and Director of the Information System Department.
During her time, she oversaw numerous key programs and initiatives aimed at transforming AlUla into a leading global destination for culture, heritage, and nature.
Prior to her tenure at RCU, Al Akel gained valuable experience in the private sector.
She served as Director of the Productivity Department at Saudi British Bank (SABB) and held the position of Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she directed various strategic and operational projects.
Abeer Al Akel holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from King Saud University, one of the leading educational institutions in the region.
Additionally, she has completed a leadership development program at Harvard University, enhancing her expertise in both technology and executive management.
Al Akel's appointment is poised to further the Royal Commission's objectives as it continues to develop AlUla as a major cultural and tourism hub.
