EVIQ Inaugurates First Public Electric Vehicle DC Fast-Charging Site in Riyadh
Saudi Arabia's Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company, EVIQ, has unveiled its inaugural fast-charging station for electric vehicles at ROSHN Front, Riyadh.
This facility boasts two advanced chargers with over 100 kW output, offering free rapid charging and promoting Saudi Vision 2030's aim to boost the use of electric cars.
As EVIQ's CEO, Mohammad Bakr Gazzaz, expressed, this marks a pivotal step in EVIQ's commitment to establish 5,000 fast chargers by 2030 throughout the Kingdom. The ROSHN Front location represents a leap forward in charging technology, providing quick top-ups for EV drivers.
ROSHN Group's David Grover noted that ROSHN Front, attracting 800,000 visitors monthly, is an optimal spot for this charging station.
In sync with this development, the adjacent area SEDRA plans to include EV charging within its 30,000 upcoming homes, reflecting Riyadh's modern community planning initiatives.
With this launch, EVIQ and its partners address the critical issue of lengthy EV charging times, a challenge for owners due to the previous lack of high-powered chargers within the Saudi market.
