Saudi Crown Prince Hosts IOC President for Enhanced Cooperation Talks
The meeting discusses bilateral collaboration to advance Olympic sports development in Saudi Arabia and globally.
On Sunday, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman met with Dr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.
The discussions centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the IOC, with a focus on advancing the development and progress of the Olympic Games both within Saudi Arabia and around the world.
The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Royal Court Advisor Dr. Fahd Tounsi, Governor of the Public Investment Fund Yasir Al-Rumayyan, and CEO and Secretary General of the Olympic and Paralympic Committee Abdulaziz Baeshen.
Also present were Pere Miro, a senior advisor to the IOC President, and Sir Miang, an IOC member and head of the Working Group.
Dr. Bach's arrival in Riyadh marks his fourth official visit since his election as IOC President in 2013. His visit highlights the strengthening ties between the IOC and Saudi Arabia, particularly in the context of Saudi Vision 2030. This initiative aims to transform the Kingdom into a global sports hub, promoting a variety of major sporting events, including the inaugural Olympic Esports Games, which were announced last year.
The discussions reflect a commitment to boost sporting culture and infrastructure in the Kingdom while fostering international collaboration through sports.
