Over 40,000 beneficiaries receive dates and iftar meals from Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
A philanthropic initiative by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, has recently provided dates to over 40,000 individuals in Malawi and Uzbekistan.
The program is part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques gift initiative, which aims to assist those in need during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
In Malawi, the initiative distributed approximately 5 tonnes of dates to around 23,000 people.
The distribution event took place at the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Institute located in Blantyre, attended by key figures including the institute’s director, Mohammed Muaz Nadwi; the head of the Fatwa Committee of the Malawi Council of Scholars, Mohammed Abdul Hamid Silika; and Omar Adam Kashilinga, an executive member of the Malawi Muslim Union.
In addition to the dates, iftar meals were also provided to participants.
Meanwhile, in Uzbekistan, an equivalent amount of 5 tonnes was distributed to about 20,000 individuals at the Charity Waqf Association.
The event was attended by notable officials, including Hamoud Al-Mutairi, the Saudi deputy ambassador to Uzbekistan, and Zainuddin Ishunkulov, the deputy mufti of Uzbekistan.
The Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs was represented at both events by religious attaches from South Africa and Kazakhstan, respectively, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to international charitable efforts during Ramadan.
