In January 2025, Saudi Arabia's industrial production quantity index exhibited a growth of 1.3% compared to the same month in 2024, according to a report published by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
This growth has been attributed primarily to increased outputs in the manufacturing sector, alongside advancements in water supply, sanitation, and waste management activities.
The results from the report indicate that the mining and quarrying sector experienced a decline of 0.4% year-on-year.
Conversely, manufacturing activity saw a significant rise of 4% during the same period.
The index for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply noted a decrease of 1.7%, while the water supply, sanitation, and waste management sub-index recorded a notable increase of 12.8%.
Additionally, data related to the main economic activities revealed that oil-related activities increased by 0.4% in January 2025, while non-oil activities surged by 3.6% compared to January 2024.
GASTAT publishes the industrial production index monthly, serving as an economic indicator that reflects the changes in the volume of industrial production.
The index is derived from a survey of industrial establishments engaged in targeted sectors such as mining and quarrying, manufacturing, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supplies, as well as water supply and waste management activities.
