Saudi Crown Prince Meets US Secretary of State Ahead of Ukraine Talks
High-level discussions focus on Saudi-US relations and regional security.
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman hosted US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on March 10, 2025, in Riyadh.
The meeting occurred as Rubio arrived in the Kingdom in preparation for critical discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which has persisted for three years due to tensions with Russia.
During their meeting, the two leaders reviewed the bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States, exploring opportunities for further enhancement and development across various sectors.
The discussions also encompassed recent regional and international developments, with both parties exchanging insights on strategies for achieving security and stability in the area, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz accompanied Rubio at the reception.
The Saudi delegation included Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Defense, along with Princess Reema bint Bandar, the Saudi ambassador to the United States.
Rubio's visit to Jeddah precedes anticipated talks with Ukrainian officials, scheduled for Tuesday, as part of diplomatic efforts toward ending the conflict.
Also arriving in Saudi Arabia on the same day was Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, marking a significant moment in international diplomatic engagements surrounding the ongoing war in Ukraine.
