Cristiano Ronaldo Travels to Spain for Hamstring Treatment After Injury in Saudi Pro League Match
Al-Nassr manager Jorge Jesus confirms Portuguese star will seek specialist therapy in Madrid following muscle injury sustained against Al-Fayha
Cristiano Ronaldo has travelled from Saudi Arabia to Spain to receive treatment for a hamstring injury, after medical assessments revealed the problem to be more serious than initially expected.
The Portuguese forward sustained the injury during Al-Nassr’s Saudi Pro League match against Al-Fayha, where he was forced to leave the field late in the game after experiencing visible discomfort.
The veteran striker had signalled to the bench before being substituted in the closing stages of the match, which Al-Nassr ultimately won three-one.
Al-Nassr manager Jorge Jesus later confirmed that Ronaldo would travel to Spain for specialised rehabilitation, explaining that further tests indicated the hamstring injury required more intensive treatment than initially anticipated.
The player is expected to work with his personal therapist in Madrid as part of the recovery programme.
The club had earlier announced that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had begun a rehabilitation programme and would be monitored closely on a day-to-day basis while medical staff evaluate the severity of the strain.
Ronaldo’s absence represents a significant setback for Al-Nassr at a crucial stage of the Saudi Pro League season.
The Riyadh club has been competing at the top of the table and relies heavily on the Portuguese captain’s goal-scoring contribution.
Despite the injury, Ronaldo has enjoyed a strong campaign, scoring more than twenty goals in league play and maintaining a central role in the team’s title ambitions.
The timing of the injury has also drawn attention internationally, as the forward prepares for what could become his sixth appearance at the FIFA World Cup.
Portugal’s captain has participated in every tournament since 2006 and remains one of the most prominent figures in international football.
While the exact length of Ronaldo’s recovery remains uncertain, Al-Nassr officials have expressed confidence that the treatment programme in Spain will support a swift return to competitive action.
