Saudi Arabia Condemns Iranian Strikes Targeting Türkiye and Azerbaijan

Riyadh denounces attacks as violations of international law and declares full solidarity with Ankara and Baku amid widening regional tensions.
Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned what it described as Iranian attempts to strike targets in Türkiye and Azerbaijan, warning that such actions risk deepening instability across an already volatile region.

In an official statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the attacks in the strongest terms, calling them unjustified and dangerous.

The kingdom said the incidents represented a violation of international law and the principles of good neighborliness, and warned that continued aggression would push the region toward further escalation.

Riyadh expressed full solidarity with the governments and peoples of Türkiye and Azerbaijan, affirming their right to defend their sovereignty, airspace and citizens.

Saudi authorities also praised the efforts of both countries to maintain stability while confronting security threats.

The condemnation followed reports that a ballistic missile launched from Iran toward Turkish airspace was intercepted by North Atlantic Treaty Organization air and missile defense systems over the eastern Mediterranean after traveling across Iraqi and Syrian airspace.

The incident highlighted the growing geographic reach of the current confrontation across the wider Middle East.

At the same time, Azerbaijan reported a drone attack on its autonomous Nakhchivan region bordering Iran.

Azerbaijani officials said unmanned aircraft struck the airport terminal in the enclave while another drone landed near a school building in a nearby village, damaging infrastructure and raising concerns for civilian safety.

Authorities in Baku accused Iran of carrying out the attack and warned that retaliatory measures were under consideration.

Iran has denied responsibility for the incident, saying it does not target neighboring states.

The events mark a significant expansion of tensions beyond the Gulf region as the ongoing confrontation involving Iran, Israel and the United States reverberates across multiple fronts.

Several countries across the Middle East and surrounding regions have reported missile and drone activity in recent days as military operations intensify.

Saudi Arabia’s statement reflects a broader diplomatic response among regional governments that have condemned cross-border attacks and called for respect for national sovereignty.

Riyadh emphasized that stability and security across the Middle East depend on adherence to international law and the avoidance of actions that could widen the conflict further.
