Saudi Authorities Arrest 19 in Major Drug Trafficking Bust Involving Government Employees
Fifteen civil servants among those detained in connection with three drug trafficking networks across Saudi Arabia.
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Saudi Arabian authorities arrested 19 individuals, including 15 government employees, linked to three separate drug trafficking networks operating in the Asir, Jazan, and Eastern Province regions.
An official source from the Saudi Ministry of Interior confirmed the arrests, noting that those apprehended have been referred to the Public Prosecution following standard legal procedures.
Among the detained, five employees were from the Ministry of Interior, three from the Ministry of Defense, and seven from the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority.
The groups were reportedly coordinating to expand their criminal activities across various regions of the Kingdom.
In addition to drug smuggling, the arrested individuals are also implicated in money laundering schemes utilizing proceeds from their drug trafficking operations.
The Ministry of Interior emphasized its commitment to maintaining the nation's security, stating that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant against any criminal efforts that threaten the safety of Saudi citizens and residents.
Authorities have pledged to take stringent action against those who attempt to undermine the security of the Kingdom through drug-related activities.
