Al Hilal Signs Brazilian Renan Lodi from Olympique Marseille as First Winter Transfer
Al Hilal, a top Saudi Arabian football club, has completed the signing of Brazilian defender Renan Lodi from Olympique Marseille in their first transaction of the winter period.
Contrary to the original text, Lodi is not replacing Neymar Jr., as they play different positions and Neymar is not involved in this transfer.
The club welcomed Lodi with a promotional video titled "Destination Saudi Arabia," indicating his excitement about joining the team. Lodi has agreed to a contract lasting until 2027, following his stint at Marseille after transferring from Atlético Madrid.
Lodi's addition is significant due to the Saudi Pro League's rule that limits teams to eight foreign players. With Lodi on board, Al Hilal's impressive lineup of international talent reaches this limit, including Yassine Bounou, Kalidou Koulibaly, Malcom, Sergej Milinković-Savić, Aleksandar Mitrović, Rúben Neves, and Michael.
Al Hilal currently tops the Saudi league standings with a comfortable lead, maintaining a seven-point gap over their closest rivals, Al Nassr.
