Saudi Arabia has been appointed as the chair of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime’s Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities for the 2025-2027 period, with Nasser bin Ahmad Abaalkhail representing the Kingdom. This appointment reflects Saudi Arabia's growing international trust and its robust anti-corruption efforts, initiated during the 2020 G20 Summit.
In related international engagements, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized the importance of enhanced UN-Arab League cooperation in fostering regional peace. During an Arab League meeting, he praised Slovenia's recognition of Palestine and condemned Israeli actions, reaffirming Saudi support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
Meanwhile, Riyadh is set to dazzle with the "Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams" exhibition at the Saudi National Museum from November 21 to April 2. Curated by Florence Muller and featuring designs by Dior and his successors, this exhibit highlights over 70 years of haute couture legacy, promising an immersive journey through fashion history.
As part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, the Kingdom is investing millions in its tourism sector to empower youth and women. With a $100 million dedication for skills development, over 50,000 opportunities for women are being created, aiming to rejuvenate the sector post-
COVID-19 and ensure inclusive growth.
Adding to the cultural splendor, the Riyadh International Book Fair commenced at King Saud University under the theme “Riyadh Reads,” with participation from over 2,000 publishing houses from more than 30 countries. The fair runs until October 5, featuring 800 pavilions and 200 cultural events, and this year, Qatar is the guest of honor.
On the global stage, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas urged the UN to impose sanctions on Israel amidst the Gaza conflict. Addressing the UN General Assembly, Abbas called for an end to Israeli violence, humanitarian aid delivery, and full Israeli withdrawal, citing significant casualties and destruction in Gaza.
