Saudi Arabia Warns Iran Against ‘Miscalculation’ After Missile and Drone Attacks Across Gulf
Riyadh issues firm warning to Tehran following intercepted Iranian strikes targeting regional states and military facilities
Saudi Arabia has warned Iran against what it described as a potential “miscalculation” following a wave of missile and drone attacks across the Gulf region that triggered widespread air defence responses.
The warning came after several Gulf states reported intercepting projectiles launched from Iran, including missiles and drones aimed toward Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
Air defence systems across the region were activated as authorities moved to neutralise the incoming threats before they could reach strategic facilities and populated areas.
Saudi officials said the attacks represented a dangerous escalation in an already volatile regional conflict and stressed that any further hostile action could carry serious consequences.
The kingdom’s defence forces reported that multiple incoming missiles were intercepted by air defence systems, preventing damage to critical infrastructure.
The developments follow an intensifying confrontation between Iran and the United States–Israel alliance, which has already seen extensive military strikes and retaliatory missile launches across several countries in the Middle East.
Iran has launched waves of projectiles toward locations associated with Western and allied military presence in the region.
Authorities across the Gulf confirmed that most of the missiles and drones were destroyed in flight by advanced air defence systems.
Sirens sounded in several cities as defence forces engaged the incoming weapons, while governments issued emergency alerts urging residents to remain indoors during the interceptions.
Saudi Arabia’s statement emphasized the importance of regional stability and warned that further escalation could threaten broader security across the Middle East.
Officials stressed that the kingdom would continue to take all necessary measures to protect its territory, citizens and strategic installations.
Regional defence networks, including Patriot missile systems and other layered interception technologies, were deployed to counter the attacks.
These systems are designed to intercept ballistic missiles and aerial threats before they reach their intended targets.
The attacks caused disruption across parts of the Gulf, including temporary airspace restrictions and heightened military readiness.
Authorities also reported that falling debris from intercepted missiles led to scattered damage in several locations.
Saudi Arabia’s warning highlights the rising risk of wider confrontation as the conflict expands beyond its initial theatres.
With missile exchanges continuing and regional militaries on high alert, governments across the Middle East are working to prevent further escalation while strengthening defensive measures against additional attacks.
