King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival 2023 Enters Guinness Records as the Largest Falconry Competition Globally
The 2023 King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival has made history by becoming the world's largest falconry competition, acknowledged by the Guinness World Records its third record-setting achievement. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the event featured 2,654 falcons, surpassing its previous participant numbers.
Hosted by the Saudi Falcons Club from November 28 to December 14 near Riyadh, the festival underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to preserving its cultural heritage. Starting with a record of 1,723 falcons in its first year, it achieved another milestone with 2,350 falcons in 2019.
Falconers from Saudi Arabia, the Gulf region, and internationally competed over 17 days for over SR 33.6 million in prizes. In continuation of its cultural efforts, the Saudi Falcons Club, in collaboration with the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate, is launching the inaugural AlUla Falconry Cup. This event will take place in AlUla from December 28 to January 5, offering record-breaking prizes of SR 60 million.
