Saudi Medical Team Restores Sight of Iranian Hajj Pilgrim at King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah
A surgical team at King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC) in Makkah successfully restored the sight of an Iranian pilgrim who had come to perform the Hajj rituals this year.
The 40-year-old pilgrim had multiple vision-related issues including retinal detachment, high myopia, cataracts, retinal atrophy, and uveitis.
The two and a half hour surgical procedure involved removing the cataract, implanting an intraocular lens, and treating the retina using silicone oil.
The interventions were effective in enabling the patient to regain their vision.
The KAMC's exceptional medical expertise and state-of-the-art equipment provided by the Saudi government were key in carrying out such complex medical procedures for retinal detachment regularly.
