CATL Launches Energy Aftermarket Hub in Riyadh to Support Saudi Clean-Power Drive
Chinese battery giant deepens Middle East footprint as Saudi Arabia accelerates electric mobility and energy storage ambitions
Contemporary Amperex Technology Company Limited, the world’s largest electric-vehicle battery maker, has opened a new energy aftermarket hub in Riyadh, marking a significant expansion of its presence in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East.
The facility is designed to provide technical support, maintenance services and lifecycle management for battery systems used in electric vehicles, energy storage projects and related infrastructure across the region.
The Riyadh hub reflects growing cooperation between Saudi Arabia and leading global clean-energy firms as the kingdom advances its Vision 2030 strategy to diversify the economy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
CATL said the centre will focus on after-sales services, training and system optimisation, supporting customers in sectors ranging from electric transport to grid-scale energy storage.
By establishing a local base, the company aims to shorten response times, improve reliability and adapt its technologies to regional operating conditions.
Saudi officials have highlighted the importance of attracting advanced manufacturing and energy-technology partners to support domestic demand for electric mobility and renewable power.
The new facility aligns with expanding investments in electric buses, commercial vehicle fleets and large-scale battery storage projects intended to stabilise power supplies as renewable capacity grows.
Industry analysts view CATL’s move as a signal of confidence in the Saudi market and its long-term clean-energy policy direction.
For CATL, the Riyadh hub strengthens its global service network and positions the company closer to customers in the Middle East, Africa and parts of Europe.
As demand for batteries and energy storage systems rises worldwide, the company’s local presence is expected to play a role in supporting regional deployment while reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a centre for advanced energy technologies.
