Yemeni Government Resumes Airlifts to Evacuate Stranded Citizens in Sudan
The Yemeni government has resumed airlifts from Sudan to evacuate over 1,200 Yemenis stranded in war-torn Sudan.
The first set of stranded Yemenis were airlifted by the Saudi navy and transported to Yemen by bus.
Seven Yemenia planes will transport 1,250 stranded Yemenis from Sudan to Yemen between Friday and Monday.
The government has offered to cover flight costs and assist citizens in extending their passports and obtaining certificates.
The Yemeni government and human rights activists have criticized a Houthi attack on a gathering of Bahais in Sanaa, arresting 17 people and raiding Bahai homes.
The Houthis have arbitrarily abducted and persecuted Bahais since 2014.
