A prominent Saudi dermatologist has urged people to take precautions during the summer season to protect their skin from the harmful effects of the sun.
Dr. Nawaf Al-Sadoon, who owns Forever Young Clinics in Jeddah, emphasized the importance of skin protection during the summer months when the sun's rays are at their strongest.
"High temperatures, humidity, and extended sun exposure can cause a range of skin problems, including clogged pores, sunburn, and the development of dark spots," Al-Sadoon said.
"The most effective approach to treating these problems is to prioritize protection, prevention, and early initiation of skincare." To protect their skin, individuals should select a sunscreen that suits their skin type and use it liberally.
They should also avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. when the sun's rays are strongest.
Drinking plenty of water and staying in shaded areas can also help to prevent dehydration, which can make the skin look dull and dry.
Al-Sadoon noted that men's interest in cosmetic procedures has been on the rise in recent years.
He attributed this trend to increased awareness of personal appearance due to social media and the
COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the most popular treatments sought after by men are Botox injections for the upper face, fillers for enhancing the chin and jawline, and laser hair removal for shaping the beard.
Overall, taking proper precautions during the summer season can help individuals maintain the health and vitality of their skin.
By prioritizing protection, prevention, and early initiation of skincare, people can enjoy the benefits of outdoor activities while minimizing the risks associated with prolonged sun exposure.
