Saudi Arabia to Distribute 700 Tons of Dates in 102 Countries During Ramadan
King Salman's initiative marks an increase in aid to support Muslims worldwide in the holy month.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has approved the distribution of 700 tons of dates as part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Gift for Dates Distribution Program.
This initiative is set to take place in 102 countries during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
This year's distribution exceeds the previous year's amount by 200 tons.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call, and Guidance will oversee the distribution effort.
Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Sheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, expressed gratitude to both King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their ongoing support aimed at assisting Muslims around the world, especially during the significant period of Ramadan.
The program emphasizes the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to promoting Islamic values and addressing issues related to hatred, extremism, and fanaticism.
The ministry has announced that all logistical arrangements for the distribution have been finalized.
Dates will be shipped in coordination with religious attachés stationed at Saudi embassies, as well as various Islamic centers and organizations globally.
The distribution of dates is a long-standing tradition in Saudi Arabia, with the dates symbolizing generosity and hospitality, particularly during Ramadan, when Muslims fast from dawn until sunset.
