Saudi Arabia Records 216 Million POS Transactions in Mid-February
Weekly point-of-sale transactions total SAR 13.3 billion, with food and beverages leading consumer spending
Between February 9 and 15, 2025, Saudi Arabia reported 216,651,000 point-of-sale (POS) transactions, amounting to SAR 13,320,771,000, according to the Saudi Central Bank's (SAMA) weekly bulletin.
This reflects a slight decrease from the SAR 13,732,155,000 recorded during the same period last year.
The food and beverages sector led consumer spending, with 49,564,000 transactions totaling SAR 1,977,627,000.
Restaurants and cafes followed closely, registering 62,073,000 transactions worth SAR 1,936,425,000.
Other notable sectors included clothing and footwear, with 6,368,000 transactions amounting to SAR 844,146,000, and gas stations, recording 16,400,000 transactions totaling SAR 933,109,000.
Regionally, Riyadh accounted for the highest number of transactions, with 69,483,000 worth SAR 4,739,420,000.
Jeddah followed with 26,252,000 transactions totaling SAR 1,916,028,000, and Dammam reported 9,006,000 transactions amounting to SAR 659,977,000.
These figures underscore the sustained consumer activity across various sectors and regions in the Kingdom.
