Winners of the competition will receive SR2,000 each as part of a cultural initiative by the Ministry of Culture.
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Culture has announced a competition inviting the public to submit photographs of their traditional attire to celebrate Founding Day.
The competition will run from February 22 to 28, with 50 winners set to receive SR2,000 each, totaling SR100,000 in prizes.
Participants can submit their entries through the ministry's website.
Winners will be notified via email between March 12 and 14.
The initiative aims to promote traditional Saudi clothing while supporting local fashion designers and content creators.
The competition encourages participation from all members of the public, with guidelines stipulating that submitted images must be of high quality and feature culturally appropriate attire.
Entrants are required to utilize the Founding Day hashtag for their submissions.
Traditional garments vary across different regions of Saudi Arabia, with men's attire typically including the ghutra headdress and bisht robe, while women often wear the shayla headscarf and thobe.
The kingdom boasts a rich history of diverse fashion influenced by various tribal styles, although many traditional outfits remain less documented due to historical migrations and lack of preservation efforts.
Founding Day, celebrated annually on February 22, commemorates the establishment of the First Saudi State in 1727. This year’s festivities are expected to feature a range of cultural activities, including music concerts and art exhibitions, highlighting the kingdom's cultural heritage in major cities across the nation.
