Saudi Arabia Prepares for Nationwide Founding Day Celebrations
Over 15 cities will host cultural and artistic events from February 20 to 23 as part of a nationwide tribute to the Kingdom's heritage.
Saudi Arabia is set to commemorate its Founding Day with a series of celebrations taking place across more than 15 cities from February 20 to 23. The festivities will feature a variety of cultural and artistic events designed to highlight the Kingdom's rich heritage and history.
In the capital, Riyadh, the municipality has initiated an extensive decoration effort, displaying over 8,000 flags in prominent locations throughout the city.
The Ministry of Culture is spearheading a diverse lineup of cultural and historical activities to honor the founding of the Kingdom three centuries ago.
Among the most anticipated events is the Al-Srraya Festival in AlUla, which will run from February 21 to 23. This festival will offer visitors an immersive experience chronicling the Kingdom's founding journey, with interactive exhibits and various activities.
A distinctive eco-friendly artwork, drawing inspiration from fireflies and stars, will replace traditional fireworks, presenting a new visual spectacle for attendees.
In Riyadh, the 'Strong Ties' event at Boulevard City, also scheduled for February 21 to 23, aims to foster unity and cultural connection through an interactive community art installation.
Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to a sculpture that symbolizes collective togetherness.
The 'Memory of the Land' event, occurring simultaneously in multiple cities, will focus on the history of the first Saudi state.
This initiative is part of the Year of Handicrafts 2025 and will feature a dedicated Handicrafts Zone where visitors can discover various traditional and regional crafts, showcasing the Kingdom’s artistic heritage.
The celebrations will also include spectacular light displays.
On February 22, drone shows will light up the skies in various cities, complemented by artistic fireworks that will be launched concurrently in 15 locations.
Additionally, the Foundation Day Orchestra event at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh will occur on the weekend, presenting performances by the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir.
This event will blend music and visual storytelling to bring the Kingdom’s history to life.
The celebrations are organized in collaboration with various government agencies and reflect Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to preserve and promote its cultural identity while enhancing its international presence.
This series of events promises to deliver a vibrant acknowledgment of the Kingdom's past, present, and future.
