Saudi Media Forum 2025 Explores AI's Role in Modern Journalism
Industry leaders discuss the integration of artificial intelligence in media practices
The fourth Saudi Media Forum commenced in Riyadh on February 19, 2025, under the theme 'Media in an Evolving World.' The event gathered approximately 200 speakers, including journalists, economists, AI specialists, and entrepreneurs, to engage in over 60 specialized sessions and workshops.
Saudi Arabia's Minister of Media, Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari, welcomed more than 2,000 professionals to the annual forum.In a session focused on the impact of artificial intelligence on the news industry, Arab News Deputy Editor-in-Chief Noor Nugali emphasized the necessity of applying AI thoughtfully within media practices.
Nugali highlighted the importance of utilizing AI to support and enhance human learning, cautioning against over-reliance on automated tools for content creation.The forum also featured discussions on the role of AI in education, with concerns raised about students using AI to complete assignments, potentially undermining authentic learning experiences.In addition to AI-focused sessions, the forum addressed the growth of Saudi-led content creation.
Manga Productions CEO, Dr. Essam Bukhary, discussed the global reach of Saudi anime series 'Future's Folktales,' co-produced with Japan's Toei Animation.
The series' second season, set in NEOM's Oxagon city, has garnered over 100 million views worldwide.
Dr. Bukhary noted that approximately 36% of the global population engages with anime content, underscoring Saudi Arabia's active participation in this expanding market.The Saudi Media Forum 2025, running from February 19 to 21, serves as an international platform for forecasting and developing the future of media, exploring the latest technologies, and fostering collaboration among media professionals.
