KFC Relocates U.S. Headquarters from Kentucky to Texas
Fast-food chain moves corporate offices to Plano, affecting approximately 100 employees.
KFC, the fast-food chain known for its fried chicken, is relocating its U.S. corporate headquarters from Louisville, Kentucky, to Plano, Texas.
This move, announced by parent company Yum! Brands, will impact around 100 corporate employees, who are expected to transition to the new location over the next six months.
Additionally, approximately 90 remote workers will be required to return to office settings within 18 months.
The relocation aims to enhance collaboration among Yum! Brands' subsidiaries, which include KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Habit Burger & Grill.
While KFC and Pizza Hut will now share headquarters in Plano, Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill will continue operations from Irvine, California.
Despite the headquarters shift, Yum! Brands will maintain corporate offices and the KFC Foundation in Louisville.
In conjunction with the move, the company has pledged a $1 million endowment to the University of Louisville's College of Business to fund scholarships and support the Yum! Center for Global Franchise Excellence.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg have expressed disappointment over the decision, citing KFC's deep-rooted history in the state since its founding by Colonel Harland Sanders in the 1930s.
This relocation aligns with a broader trend of companies moving operations to Texas, attracted by the state's favorable tax policies and business environment.
