Riyadh - Princess Sara bint Mashhour bin Abdulaziz, the spouse of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, has announced the launch of the Misk Heritage Museum, named 'Asaan.' During the announcement, Princess Sara, who serves as the chairperson of the museum, outlined the institution's mission to cultivate a generation that takes pride in its heritage and to actively engage in the preservation and revitalization of Saudi culture.
The Misk Heritage Museum will cover an area of over 40,000 square meters and is designed by the prominent Zaha Hadid Architects.
The architectural vision draws inspiration from traditional Najdi styles, marrying aspects of Saudi identity with contemporary design.
Upon its expected opening in the coming years in Diriyah, a site of historical significance in Saudi Arabia, the museum will exhibit thousands of artifacts that illustrate the legacy and lifestyle of previous generations in the Kingdom.
The museum's purpose is to serve as a global cultural hub that showcases both tangible and intangible elements of Saudi heritage.
Supported by the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (Misk), it aims to contribute to cultural sustainability through a diverse array of programs and activities.
As a non-profit organization, Asaan is dedicated to the conservation and celebration of Saudi Arabia’s diverse heritage.
Interactive exhibitions and immersive spaces will enable visitors to experience Saudi history and culture dynamically.
The museum's programming aligns with the objectives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030, particularly those emphasizing cultural sustainability and the preservation of national identity.
Partnerships with organizations affiliated with the Misk Foundation will incorporate global expertise in the effort to preserve cultural heritage.
The museum is designed to include various spaces, such as permanent exhibitions, art galleries, and a dedicated arts courtyard.
One notable feature will be 'Asaan’s Majlis,' a space intended for dialogue, idea exchange, and workshops focused on heritage revival.
Additionally, the museum will include conservation laboratories and interactive learning initiatives, further enriching visitors' engagement with Saudi culture.
The establishment of the Asaan Museum aims to position Saudi Arabia as a leader in cultural heritage investment and preservation on a global scale.
Princess Sara’s commitment to heritage preservation is reflected in Asaan's innovative approaches, as she advocates for cultural programs that engage various community segments, including youth and persons with disabilities.
These initiatives also resonate with the overarching goals of the non-profit sector within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to enhance educational and professional skills across diverse demographics.
