Saudi Arabia's Transport General Authority Enforces New Regulations for Order Delivery Sector: Uniforms for Drivers, Motorcycle Use, and Licensing Requirements

Saudi Arabia's Transport General Authority Enforces New Regulations for Order Delivery Sector: Uniforms for Drivers, Motorcycle Use, and Licensing Requirements

The Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA) has initiated the first phase of regulations for the order delivery sector, effective April 2, 2023.
The regulations include three decisions: non-Saudis working for delivery apps must join licensed light transport companies in Al-Baha, Jazan, Najran, and the Northern Borders Region; freelance work is limited to Saudis; and motorcycle usage for delivery is regulated in coordination with the General Department of Traffic.

Additionally, uniforms are required for drivers.

The authority and the General Traffic Department have issued new rules for motorcycle use, which cover general requirements, registration, and technical specifications.

Motorcycle drivers must obtain a valid operating card, avoid overloading, and stay out of prohibited areas.

These regulations aim to improve service quality, protect consumer rights, and minimize traffic risks in the growing delivery sector.

The text discusses the importance of complying with controls in the delivery sector to ensure a safe and organized environment for consumers and drivers.

The Text and General Administration (TGA) in Saudi Arabia has approved uniforms for non-Saudi drivers through two models: one for directly employed drivers in light transportation activity and another for delivery service providers using applications.

Saudi drivers also follow regulations for maintaining public decorum to unify the workers' appearance and enhance professional standards.

Standardizing uniforms contributes to providing high-quality service, reliability, and safety in the order delivery sector.

The Textual Authority announced that freelance work in the delivery sector will be permitted in remaining regions, with further decisions to be announced before July 1, 2023.

The decisions aim to improve driver competence, enhance service quality, and enable citizen participation.

Previously, on January 23, 2023, the Transport General Authority (TGA) issued six regulations to regulate the order delivery sector, focusing on uniforms for non-Saudis, restrictions on their employment, advertisement displays, identity verification technology, and motorcycle usage requirements.

The Textual Genesis Agency (TGA) states that new regulations for the order delivery sector will enhance its efficiency and promote growth.

These regulations are expected to benefit consumers and the national economy.
