KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait's Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his UK counterpart James Cleverly met on Wednesday to discuss ways to enhance their countries' bilateral ties.
During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the latest regional and global political developments, including the demarcation of maritime borders between Iraq and Kuwait beyond Mark 162.
The two ministers stressed the importance of joint dialogue to reach a resolution that adheres to international law.
They also discussed the Palestinian issue, condemning Israel's systematic violations against the Palestinian people and repeated attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and other holy sites.
Cleverly expressed his condolences for the recent loss of lives in Kuwait due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, and thanked Kuwait for its support during the UK's
COVID-19 lockdown.
The UK foreign secretary's three-day tour of the Middle East aims to boost ties with the region and follows the announcement of a new electronic travel authorization visa scheme for citizens of Gulf countries and Jordan.
The scheme is intended to make it easier for people to travel to the UK.
Both Kuwait and the UK have a long history of friendship and cooperation, and the meeting between the two foreign ministers is expected to further strengthen their relationship.
