Saudi Arabia will host the 21st UNIDO General Conference in Riyadh come November 2025
This announcement followed Saudi Arabia's successful bid, unanimously supported by the 172 UNIDO member states at the conference's 20th session in Vienna. The Saudi delegation, led by Industry and Mineral Resources Minister Bandar Al Khorayef, actively participated in the event.
In his address, Al Khorayef thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman for their backing, a critical factor in achieving the country's Vision 2030 goals. He praised the successful diplomatic endeavors, particularly those by Ambassador Dr. Abdullah Toula in Vienna, that secured member state consensus.
Hosting UNIDO's conference is seen as global acknowledgment of Saudi Arabia's role in regional economic growth and industrialization. The minister underscored Saudi Arabia's dedication to fostering industrial development worldwide and promised an outstanding conference on all fronts.
The event offers Saudi Arabia the chance to showcase its leadership in major industrial sectors, driven by its sophisticated industrial infrastructure and legislative framework. This contributes to its influence on both regional and global industrial progress.
According to the minister, the event also reflects Saudi Arabia's significant political and economic clout, which was also demonstrated by its selection as the host for the World Expo 2030.
The conference will facilitate broader discussions on the future of global industry and further establish Saudi Arabia as a manufacturing and technology hub. It will introduce Saudi Arabia's industrial direction and the initiatives it is taking to ensure sustainable industrial sector growth, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
The 2025 conference in Riyadh is expected to draw over 1,500 participants, including UNIDO members, international organization representatives, and private sector delegates.
UNIDO is committed to advancing industrial development, supporting smaller industries, and encouraging international industrial cooperation since its inception in 1966.
