Saudi Arabia's National Center of Meteorology: Normal Rainfall in Most Regions, Temperature Increase of Up to 2 Degrees Celsius
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) in Saudi Arabia predicts that most regions of the country will experience rainfall around the normal rate during the current spring season, except for areas in the Eastern Province, Hail, Northern Borders, Al-Jouf, Tabuk, and Asir, where there is a 50% chance of receiving less rainfall than usual.
According to the NCM report, surface temperatures in most regions of the Kingdom are expected to increase by 2 degrees Celsius during the spring season. The temperature rise will be slightly less, at 1.5 degrees, in the Jazan region and parts of Makkah, Madinah, Asir, and Tabuk.
The NCM's detailed report on the spring season forecasts indicates that in March, most regions of the Kingdom will experience rainfall around the normal rate, with a 50-60% chance of occurrence. However, parts of Najran and Jazan will receive more rainfall than average, while parts of Hail, Al-Jouf, and the Northern Borders Region will receive less than average.
In April, the normal rate of rainfall is expected in most regions of the Kingdom, while parts of Madinah, Al-Qassim, and Hail will receive more rainfall than average. Conversely, parts of the Eastern Province, Northern Borders, and Asir will experience a decrease in rainfall.
During May, rainfall is expected to fall around the normal rate in most regions of the Kingdom, but parts of the Eastern Province, Tabuk, and the Northern Borders Region will receive more rainfall than average. In contrast, parts of Asir and Jazan will experience less rainfall than normal.
Regarding temperatures, the NCM forecasts that during March, surface temperatures will rise approximately 2 degrees Celsius in most regions of the Kingdom, except for the northeastern parts, where the temperature rise may reach 2.5 degrees Celsius. In April, temperatures are expected to rise in all regions of the Kingdom, with most regions experiencing a 2-degree temperature increase, and parts of Jazan and Najran, as well as the coastal parts of Makkah, experiencing a 1.5-degree increase. In May, temperatures are expected to rise 2 degrees in Riyadh, the Eastern Province, Al-Qassim, and Najran, and 1.5 degrees in some regions, including parts of the Eastern Province, Northern Borders, Hail, Madinah, Makkah, and Jazan, while the rest of the regions will experience a 1-degree temperature increase.
