Diriyah's Wadi Safar Project Introduced in Alignment with Vision 2030
The Diriyah Gate Development Authority recently unveiled the Wadi Safar project as part of Saudi Arabia's ambitious Vision 2030. The initiative was announced at the Bashayer event, attended by notable guests.
Wadi Safar is a planned gated community near Riyadh, set to feature luxury resorts from Six Senses, Aman, and Oberoi. Golfing legend Greg Norman is designing a 27-hole championship course, while polo star Nacho Figueras showcased the soon-to-be-established Royal Diriyah Equestrian and Polo Club.
With Vision 2030's aim to position Saudi as a leading tourist destination, DGDA is leading by example, balancing heritage and sustainable growth. For instance, Al-Bujairi Terrace has become a tourist hotspot, with Six Senses Southern Dunes at the Red Sea project being the first of several hotels to channel regional Nabataean heritage.
Six Senses CEO Neil Jacobs expressed excitement about aligning with Saudi's cultural and conservation values, with four Six Senses resorts slated for Saudi Arabia. DGDA intends to expand Diriyah's hospitality portfolio with over 40 hotel brands, including Ritz-Carlton and Rosewood.
Aside from hospitality ventures, the DGDA is also focused on premier sports and entertainment facilities such as the Royal Diriyah Golf Club. Figueras anticipates a boost in equestrian sports within the Kingdom.
The Bashayer event showcases future plans for Diriyah, from hospitality and art to sports, and marks a new phase of unique cultural experiences being developed by DGDA. Diriyah is a UNESCO world heritage site and a cornerstone of Saudi heritage, with the event running until December 14 to celebrate these developments.
