Saudi Team Departs for ISEF 2026: A Record-Breaking Participation
A 42-strong Saudi team heads to the US for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair 2026, showcasing a commitment to global scientific excellence.
Riyadh - A delegation of 42 talented Saudi students embarked on their journey to Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday to participate in the prestigious Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2026.
The event, scheduled from May 9-15, will see the young scientists compete against over 1,700 participants from more than 70 countries worldwide.
The Saudi team, supported by the Ministry of Education and the King Abdulaziz and His Companions for Giftedness and Creativity Foundation (Mawhiba), was selected following a rigorous process.
These finalists were chosen from the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa 2026), which set a Guinness World Record last year with over 34,000 innovative projects submitted.
The selection process involved six stringent stages of evaluation and an entire year of training to hone their research abilities, presentation skills, and scientific expertise.
According to reports from the Saudi Press Agency, this thorough preparation aims to bolster the students' capabilities on a global stage.
ISEF is renowned as the largest international science fair for pre-university students, focusing on innovative projects in the fields of science and engineering.
A panel of leading international scientists will assess the projects, offering participants an invaluable platform to present their work and demonstrate their scientific acumen.
Saudi Arabia's participation in ISEF began in 2007 and has since garnered 185 awards, including 124 major and 61 special prizes.
This consistent success underscores the nation's dedication to fostering its human capital and maintaining a leading position in global innovation and research efforts.
This year's participation reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and inspiring future generations of scientists.
