Saudi oil exports rise as production reaches highest level since 2022, JODI data shows
New data indicates higher February crude output and exports from Saudi Arabia, reflecting shifts in supply strategy amid volatile global energy conditions.
Saudi Arabia’s crude oil exports increased in February while production reached its highest level since 2022, according to the latest data from the Joint Organizations Data Initiative, underscoring continued adjustments in output strategy by the world’s largest oil exporter.
Crude exports rose to 7.276 million barrels per day in February, up from 6.993 million barrels per day in January.
At the same time, crude production climbed to approximately 10.882 million barrels per day, marking the strongest monthly output level recorded since October 2022.
The data reflects Saudi Arabia’s continued ability to flex production in response to global market conditions, including fluctuating demand patterns and broader geopolitical uncertainty affecting energy flows.
The Kingdom, a leading member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allied producers, routinely adjusts output levels in coordination with broader supply management strategies.
The increase in exports also highlights ongoing efforts to balance domestic consumption, refinery activity, and overseas shipments.
Refinery throughput and internal fuel use can influence how much crude is available for export in any given month, alongside storage and logistical considerations.
Market analysts have noted that recent volatility in global energy markets has encouraged some producers to maintain elevated output levels to preserve market share and stabilise revenue flows, even as longer-term supply management agreements remain in place.
Saudi Arabia’s role as a central stabilising force in global oil markets continues to be reinforced by its production capacity and export infrastructure, which allow it to respond quickly to shifts in demand and geopolitical developments affecting key shipping routes and trading partners.
