Saudi Arabia Launches SYNMEC Coffee Bean Processing Plant in Jazan to Boost Domestic Coffee Industry
State-backed initiative inaugurates advanced processing facility to support growth of Saudi Arabica coffee production and quality standards
Saudi Arabia has inaugurated a new coffee bean processing plant equipped by SYNMEC at the Saudi Coffee Development Center in Jazan, marking a strategic step in the Kingdom’s efforts to develop its domestic coffee industry.
The facility, officially opened on October 24, 2024, brings advanced technology to the processing of locally grown Arabica beans, allowing producers to clean, hull, polish, grade and prepare high-quality coffee for both domestic consumption and export markets.
The installation of this processing line reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader ambition to build capacity across the coffee value chain and to elevate the quality and competitiveness of products originating from its southern highlands.
The project was led by SYNMEC, a manufacturer of grain and bean processing equipment selected for its technical expertise and experience in automated processing solutions.
At the opening ceremony, representatives of SYNMEC received a certificate of appreciation in recognition of their contribution, symbolising the close partnership between the Chinese equipment supplier and Saudi authorities in realising the facility’s operational goals.
The Jazan centre, already a hub for coffee cultivation, processing and research, is expected to benefit from the new plant’s capabilities, enabling farmers and processors to achieve consistent quality standards that meet international tastes and market demands.
The new plant is part of a wider national push to expand the Kingdom’s agricultural and food production sectors under economic diversification plans.
Saudi officials have highlighted the cultural and economic importance of coffee — long cultivated in the region’s traditional terraces — and the role of modern infrastructure in supporting sustainable growth.
