Saudi Arabia Establishes Aviation Industry Cluster in Jeddah
A new 1.2 million sq. m facility aims to enhance local manufacturing and support the aviation sector.
The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones has announced the initiation of a 1.2 million square meter aviation industry cluster at the MODON Oasis in Jeddah.
This project, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), is designed to localize advanced aviation technologies and strengthen supply chains within the sector.
The announcement was made during the ongoing Aerospace Connect Forum, attended by key officials including GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, deputy minister for industrial affairs, and MODON CEO Majed Al-Argoubi.
Strategically situated near King Abdulaziz International Airport and Jeddah Islamic Port, the aviation cluster is expected to provide a robust investment environment for aerospace manufacturing.
Plans include the development of factories of various sizes to accommodate businesses in the aviation sector, aiming to drive the localization of this essential industry.
This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's National Industrial Strategy, Aviation Strategy, and Tourism Strategy, which collectively strive to position the Kingdom as a prominent global aviation hub.
The overarching objective is to transform Saudi Arabia into a center for air transport, with projections to handle 30 million passengers and 2 million tonnes of air cargo annually.
MODON, in its role as a 'Gold Partner' at the inaugural Aerospace Connect Forum, is facilitating discussions among a diverse group of local and international aviation experts, creating a platform for knowledge sharing and business development opportunities.
In addition to the aviation cluster, MODON has also unveiled a food industry cluster in Jeddah, covering over 11 million square meters, making it the largest food industry cluster globally by area.
This endeavor supports the Vision 2030 framework, which aims to enhance food security and boost industrial growth.
The establishment of the aviation industry cluster signifies a key step in Saudi Arabia's strategy to enhance industrial competitiveness, stimulate economic growth, and localize critical technologies, reinforcing the Kingdom's standing in the global aviation landscape.
