Vaccination recommended at least 10 days prior to travel as part of health measures for Ramadan pilgrimage.
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health has emphasized the critical importance of receiving the meningitis
vaccine for individuals planning to undertake the Umrah pilgrimage during Ramadan.
This initiative aims to bolster preventive health measures and reduce the potential spread of infectious diseases, according to a statement released by the ministry.
In order to ensure optimum immunity, the health authorities recommend that pilgrims receive the
vaccine at least ten days before their travel date.
Moreover, individuals who have been vaccinated within the last five years are advised that they do not require a booster dose, as the vaccination remains effective during this period.
To facilitate the vaccination process, the ministry encourages people to schedule appointments using the Sehhaty application, which allows for vaccinations to be administered at designated adult vaccination clinics.
This directive is part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Health to protect the wellbeing of Umrah participants, enhance public health awareness, and foster the development of a comprehensive healthcare system that contributes to improved quality of life and healthcare services.
The announcement reflects ongoing commitments by health officials to maintain safety and health standards during the religious pilgrimage period.
