An Embraer aircraft operated by Kenyan carrier EBB Air overshot the runway at Mandera airstrip and crashed into bushes on Friday, but all 36 passengers and crew members escaped without injury.
A passenger plane overran the runway and careered into roadside bushes at a remote airstrip in northeastern Kenya on Friday, with all 36 people on board escaping without injury.
The Embraer aircraft, operated by Kenyan carrier EBB Air, had taken off from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 6:56 a.m., carrying 32 passengers and four crew members.
After landing at Mandera airstrip at approximately 8:30 a.m., the plane skidded and overshot the runway before plunging into a thicket of bushes.
Images shared online showed the tail end of the plane protruding while the rest was buried in the vegetation.
An aviation source stated that everyone on board was accounted for, and the relevant authorities were awaiting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, which caused significant damage to the aircraft.
Local media also confirmed that all passengers and crew members remained unharmed, as cited by police.
