French Rescue Over 100 Migrants Trying to Cross to England
Coastal services in France have saved more than a hundred migrants from the Channel as they attempted to reach England over the weekend, with one individual requiring medical attention.
LILLE: French coastal rescue teams successfully saved 119 migrants who were attempting to cross the English Channel over the weekend.
According to Premar, France’s maritime service for the region, these operations took place on Saturday.
Among the rescues, a migrant who had lost consciousness was airlifted by helicopter to Boulogne Hospital located on the north coast of France for emergency medical treatment.In response to the ongoing issue of undocumented migrants attempting risky voyages across the Channel in small boats, Britain and France signed a new three-year agreement last Thursday.
This deal includes increased financial support from London to fund French coastal rescue operations.This year alone, six individuals have lost their lives while trying to make this perilous crossing.
