Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Friday that he has received messages from the United States expressing a willingness to continue diplomatic discussions.

Additionally, Araghci expressed openness to any assistance in ending the conflict, including possible support from China.

This development came in the wake of US President Donald Trump's statement that Chinese President Xi Jinping had offered help in reopening the Strait of Hormuz and pledged not to send military equipment to aid Iran against the US and Israel.

Araghchi’s remarks were made after attending a BRICS meeting in New Delhi, where he appreciated China’s potential role in aiding diplomacy.

However, he emphasized that Tehran harbors no trust towards Washington and is interested in negotiations only if they lead to a genuine agreement to end hostilities.

Araghci clarified that all vessels can pass through the Strait of Hormuz except those at war with Iran, provided they coordinate with the Iranian Navy.

Pakistan has served as a key mediator between the US and Iran.

Araghchi noted that while Pakistan's mediation efforts have not yet failed, their progress is hindered by American behavior and mutual mistrust.

In response to China's involvement, Trump mentioned that Xi feels strongly about preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and supports reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which handles 40% of China’s trade.

Additionally, there was discussion on potentially lifting sanctions on Chinese companies that purchase Iranian oil.

Trump emphasized that the international community is calling for an immediate resumption of shipping in the region to restore peace.

This news comes as discussions between the US and Iran regarding their nuclear programs continue, with both countries exchanging offers and demands, although Iran has maintained that their nuclear ambitions are solely for peaceful purposes.
