Saudi Arabia Opens Its First Six Flags as Qiddiya Pushes Global Entertainment Ambitions
The kingdom unveils Six Flags Qiddiya City, positioning the mega-park as a flagship of its tourism and leisure transformation
Saudi Arabia has officially unveiled its first Six Flags theme park, marking a major milestone in the kingdom’s drive to build a globally competitive entertainment and tourism sector.
Six Flags Qiddiya City, located on the outskirts of Riyadh, opened its gates as part of the wider Qiddiya development, a cornerstone project under Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic diversification programme.
The park features record-breaking rides and large-scale attractions designed to position it among the world’s most ambitious theme parks.
Central to its offering is Falcon’s Flight, billed as the world’s longest, tallest and fastest roller coaster, along with multiple other high-intensity rides developed in collaboration with international engineering and design firms.
Saudi officials said the park reflects a strategic effort to retain domestic tourism spending while attracting international visitors.
Six Flags Qiddiya City is one of several major attractions planned for the Qiddiya giga-project, which will ultimately include sports venues, motorsport facilities, cultural districts and residential developments.
The project is overseen by the Qiddiya Investment Company, backed by the Public Investment Fund, and is intended to create tens of thousands of jobs while expanding opportunities in leisure, hospitality and creative industries.
Government officials have framed the opening as evidence of Saudi Arabia’s rapid progress in building world-class entertainment infrastructure and reshaping public life.
The arrival of a globally recognised brand such as Six Flags is seen as a signal of confidence in the kingdom’s regulatory environment and long-term tourism strategy.
As the park begins welcoming visitors, Saudi Arabia continues to position Qiddiya as a regional and international destination, reinforcing its ambition to become a leading hub for entertainment and lifestyle experiences in the Middle East.
