Setec Group, a French engineering firm, is working to introduce urban air mobility to Saudi Arabia, aiming to provide efficient transportation for people and goods within the Kingdom.
This move follows initiatives by countries like Dubai, which plans to launch air taxis by 2026 as a solution to traffic congestion. Partnering with European entities, Setec Group is exploring options to connect Riyadh with nearby emerging centers such as Diriyah and Qiddiyah.
Patrick Bteich of Setec Group discussed the project's challenges, including security concerns and regulatory hurdles, but remained optimistic about its potential contribution to Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
The engineering company, which has a significant role in the redevelopment of AlUla, a French-Saudi collaborative cultural and tourism project, is also involved in other high-profile Saudi projects. This includes King Salman Park and metro line extensions, aligning with the Kingdom's ambitious goals.
Setec is dedicated to sustainability, pledging to provide low-carbon solutions in its projects to lessen the environmental impact, a critical consideration given the climate challenges in the region.
With international work constituting a significant portion of its business, Setec Group has focused its expansion in Saudi Arabia, aligning with the country's extensive infrastructure and development projects.
The company is already engaged in several ventures across the Kingdom, such as managing the Diriyah Gate project and participating in Riyadh's metro network development.
Setec's experience includes notable global projects like the Channel Tunnel, the Viaduc de Millau, and iconic buildings like the Louis Vuitton Foundation Museum. Their portfolio showcases their expertise in supporting architectural design to realize complex structures.
The group encompasses over 40 companies providing a range of services, from feasibility studies to client site supervision and specialized consulting, reinforcing their robust presence in the Saudi market.
