Ibrahim Al-Khayyat's death brings the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces this year to over 40.
Mourning the loss of a young life, Palestinians carried the body of Ibrahim Al-Khayyat through the hills of Hebron on Thursday.
The 16-year-old was fatally shot in the chest and abdomen while allegedly heading towards a minimarket, as confirmed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
The incident occurred amid a recent surge in violence in the region.According to Israeli military reports, the shooting took place during an operation in Hebron after Palestinians were observed throwing rocks at soldiers.
This grim event has raised concerns about the ongoing violence against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
Mumtaz Shabaneh, Al-Khayyat's schoolteacher, expressed his opinion that these actions are intended to weaken Palestinian resilience and determination. This tragic event marks the second death of a Palestinian on Wednesday, following Abdulhalim Hamad who was killed during an Israeli raid in Silwad.
The recent killings bring the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces this year to over 40.
Teenagers have been particularly affected by this violence, with three deaths reported last week.In related news, a drone strike in Gaza City resulted in the death of three individuals according to health officials at Shifa Hospital.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Israeli military regarding the incident.
Although large-scale fighting within Gaza has diminished since October's ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Israel continues to carry out near-daily strikes across the region.
According to figures provided by the Gaza Health Ministry, over 820 Palestinians have lost their lives due to these strikes.
