Kuwait Claims Drones from Iraq Target Border Posts
Kuwait's military reports damage but no casualties from drone attacks on northern border posts.
The Kuwaiti military announced on Friday that two drones originating from the direction of neighboring Iraq targeted border posts on Kuwait's northern frontier, causing material damage without any human casualties.
According to a military statement released on X, the attack involved two explosive-laden drones guided by fiber-optic cables from the Republic of Iraq.
Since the beginning of the Middle East conflict on February 28, pro-Iran armed groups have been claiming daily attacks on 'enemy bases' in Iraq and the wider region.
However, these groups reportedly suspended their operations following a ceasefire announcement.
Despite this, Gulf countries continue to protest against attacks from such groups, even after the ceasefire took effect.
Iraq has also faced criticism for failing to prevent ongoing operations within its borders.
The attack on Kuwait's border posts occurred during a ceasefire now in its third week and largely holding.
In addition to addressing security concerns, the Kuwaiti government announced plans to gradually reopen its airspace to commercial airlines on Friday.
