May 15, 2026 - Israeli forces shelled the outskirts of Jamla town in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa countryside on Friday.

The shelling resulted in at least four artillery shells landing near agricultural land and residential areas, instilling panic among the local population.

Despite this incident, no casualties or significant material damage have been reported thus far.This recent escalation comes amid ongoing tensions and repeated Israeli military activity within southern Syria.

Earlier in the week, a contingent of Israeli forces consisting of two Merkava tanks and two military vehicles was observed advancing near Wadi Al-Ruqqad, situated close to Jamla town.

The forces conducted limited movements along the border under the cover of surveillance aircraft.

This marks one of several instances where Israel has carried out attacks and executed military incursions into southern Syria in violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Such violations include raids, arrests, land bulldozing, and artillery shelling.In response to these actions, the Syrian government has repeatedly called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory.

Damascus asserts that all Israeli measures within southern Syria are illegitimate and lack legal standing under international law.

Furthermore, Syria has urged the international community to hold Israel accountable and press for a complete withdrawal from southern Syria.
