Medics in Gaza reported that at least seven Palestinians, including three women and a child, were killed and over 50 others injured on Friday following Israeli airstrikes.

The strikes targeted an apartment and a vehicle, with the intention of killing Izz Al-Din Al-Haddad, the current military chief of Hamas' armed wing.

While neither Israel nor Hamas has confirmed Haddad's status as of now, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have accused him of being responsible for 'thousands of Israeli civilian and soldier casualties.'

The attack comes amid ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas to implement the Trump administration's post-war plan for Gaza.

Israel continues to escalate its attacks on the Palestinian enclave, particularly after halting joint strikes with the US against Iran five weeks ago.

Since the October ceasefire that halted major fighting between Israel and Hamas, over 850 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes.

Additionally, four Israeli soldiers lost their lives during this period due to militant attacks.

It is essential to note that figures regarding casualties do not distinguish between combatants and civilians.

Despite these events, both parties remain deadlocked in talks aimed at reaching a permanent settlement, including the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, disarming Hamas fighters, and rebuilding the ruined enclave.

The current situation has led to over 2 million people residing within a small coastal strip of Gaza, primarily in damaged structures or makeshift tents.

The Israeli forces continue to occupy more than half of Gaza's territory, having demolished most remaining buildings and ordered residents to vacate these areas.
