IMC Successfully Performs Delicate Surgery to Address Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma
The International Medical Center (IMC) successfully performed intricate surgery on a patient with a Nasopharyngeal angiofibroma, a condition that caused recurrent nasal bleeding for four years. Despite previous treatments in Makkah and Jeddah, the patient saw no improvement.
Upon arriving at IMC, a detailed diagnosis by Dr. Muhammad Hafez using MRI and CT imaging revealed the tumor's extension into the infratemporal fossa. A collaborative effort from the interventional radiology, sinus and skull base surgery, maxillofacial surgery, and anesthesia teams, led respectively by Dr. Nafa Al-Alsenosy, Professor Osama Marghalani, Dr. Kamal Kumar, and supported by nursing staff, was critical for the complex operation's success.
The surgery's complexity was heightened by the tumor's sensitive location, requiring the use of a cutting-edge surgical navigation device. This technology, along with the professional team's expertise, allowed the safe conduct of an endoscopic procedure with surgical navigation, resulting in the complete removal of the tumor.
Post-surgery, the patient experienced a gradual recovery with cessation of bleeding and nasal congestion, culminating in a full recovery, for which gratitude is extended to God.
