UN Names Jerry Inzerillo, Diriyah CEO, as New Tourism Ambassador for Sustainable Development

Jerry Inzerillo, CEO of Saudi historical destination developer Diriyah Co., has been appointed as a UN Tourism ambassador.
The appointment was made during the UN's first sustainability week in New York, from April 15 to 19.

Inzerillo was recognized for his commitment to using innovative design and development strategies to boost local communities and discover new tourism destinations.

The UN Tourism is proud to have Inzerillo join their team as an ambassador, where he will help amplify their messages about tourism's ability to drive change and achieve sustainable growth.

Inzerillo joins an elite group of ambassadors including Lionel Messi, Georgio Armani, and Placido Domingo.

Diriyah is a new development project located near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital city.

At its heart is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif, the historic capital of the First Saudi State.

The project aims to accommodate 100,000 residents, workers, students, and visitors, providing various cultural, entertainment, retail, hospitality, educational, and residential spaces.

Developing tourist destinations like Diriyah is essential for Saudi Arabia as it pursues economic diversification, in line with Vision 2030.

The tourism sector, which currently employs 320 million people and is expected to add another 100 million in the next decade, offers a significant opportunity for growth.

Inzerillo, the head of Diriyah Co., emphasized the importance of responsible development in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Diriyah Co.'s strategies prioritize sustainability, preservation, and conservation, with a focus on benefiting the local community.

Inzerillo also mentioned that Diriyah Co.'s commitment to sustainability should extend beyond daily operations.

Riyadh is expected to undergo significant transformative changes every year, allowing for noticeable improvements for visitors and residents.
